Biography
Marco Marais, the dashing and hard-hitting batter, first made a name for himself when he smashed the record for the fastest first-class triple century playing for Border against Eastern Province in 2017-18. He scored an unbeaten 300 off just 191 balls.
In the 2018 Africa T20 Cup, Marais made a lot of noise with the bat, managing two score consecutive centuries for Border. He ended up being the highest run-getter in the tournament, with Cricket South Africa naming him the stand out player of the tournament. With a strike rate of 144 in T20 cricket, he is certainly a power-hitter on whom Pretoria Capitals will depend upon.
In the recent season, he was given the added responsibility of captaining Border and which he certainly relished as he became one of their most prominent players with the bat. At 29, his experience can be a handy thing for the Capitals’ side as they look to build upon the local talent which is available in their squad.
